Remembering Our Promises |
| Read Psalm 66:8-20. |

Who has not made a promise to God during troubling times? How often do we keep those promises when the trouble passes? Or, do we wipe our brow and keep plugging along as if we were the ones in control? This Psalter reminds us of those earnest promises to God while we anguished over our plight. Instead of shrugging off the experience as a ‘close call’, we might praise God for getting us through. Instead of hiding the anguishing experience, we might shout about what God has done for us. God hears the prayers of the faithful. And he remembers them. Lord God, help us remember the prayers we utter in times of despair. Give us courage and strength to keep our promises to you. Amen. |
